Delicious Pork Chops - easy too!

I found this recipe recently and wanted to try it out. I finally made it tonight, and it is definitely a keeper! It has just a hint of sweetness and apply-ness. Yumm! And even though you do use kind of a lot of syrup, it mostly runs off, so you aren't really eating all that. (I would have taken pictures, but I was busy eating it all, all by myself, immediately!)

Maple Pork Chops

Preheat oven to 350F/175C.

6 thick pork chops
1/2 cup/125 mL chopped onion
1/2 cup/125 mL maple syrup
2 Tbsp/30 mL cider vinegar
2 Tbsp/30 mL Worchestershire sauce
1 tsp/5 mL chili powder
1/2 tsp/2 mL salt
1/4 tsp/1 mL pepper

Place the pork chops in a baking pan or baking dish.Combine the remaining ingredients. Pour over pork chops.Bake for about an hour, until no longer pink inside. (I used not-so-thick cuts, and only needed to cook it about 30 min.)

I love maple syrup and make a similar dish. Yours may be healthier. I season the chops with a little dried thyme and curry powder, coat lightly with panko bread crumbs & saute in olive oil. When the chops are almost done, I remove them. I then deglaze the pan with about 1 cup O.J., 1-2 T maple syrup, 1 t. dijon, some chopped garlic & salt/pepper & more curry powder. Mix that sauce in the pan, cook about 3 min and add the chops so they are coated with sauce. I don't mind that the chops lose a bit of their crispness, but another choice is to finish cooking the chops and put them aside while you make the sauce in the pan. The same recipe works with chicken and fish. If you don't like curry, I bet using chili powder - like in your recipe - would work.

Cooking is a nice break from law, isn't it? Weddings are better, too.
